Niner Bikes has just announced the newly updated ONE 9 and RDO version of its carbon fork, along with the RDO seat posts which c_g reported on from Eurobike here. As with the updated EMD Nine and AIR 9 hard tail frames which we talked about recently here, Niner Bikes has also switched from Scandium enhanced aluminum alloy to a 6000 series alloy more conducive to hydro-forming. This allows Niner Bikes to make double, triple, and quadruple butted sections which result in a claimed stronger frame and lighter weight than their previous ONE 9. Niner claims the new frames are up to 70 grams lighter.

Of course, as with the AIR 9, the ONE 9 can be anodized. Now the ONE 9 will also come in an anodized black/Licorice scheme to go along with the Tang/Licorice painted frame. Furthermore, Niner also offers the Carbon Fork, the new RDO fork, the carbon Flat Top 9 handle bar, and the new RDO Seat Post all in matching colorways to complete an ensemble look if you want to go that way with your build.

Expect a run of black anodized ONE 9’s to hit U.S. and International dealers in about two weeks. The Tang/Black Licorice ONE 9’s will hit the dealers in about 5 weeks. MSRP is set at $899.00 USD and ncludes the Niner eccentric bottom bracket.

Niner also introduces the RDO carbon Fork which features the 15mm through axle from Rock Shox called the Maxle Lite. Otherwise similar to the standard quick release version, the new RDO version will also be offered in several colorways to match your Niner frame, or get the “Nude” version, as shown above, which will go with a non-Niner frame nicely.

RDOFORK_Detail3Here is the tech features Niner has on the RDO fork:

• Eurobike 2010 Award winning design
• 570g, 630g with 15mm Maxle
• Disc Only
• Tapered Steerer
• No rider weight limit
• Fits rotors up to 185mm
• 470mm axle to crown
• 45mm offset

No word on straight 1 1/8th steer tube forks, so tapered steer tube only, it would appear. Other color options include Vana White, Tang, Kermit Green, Hot Tamale, and Moondust. Expect availability on a very limited first run to appear at dealers in about 5 weeks. (First come first served!) A better supply should be seen by sometime in December. MSRP on the RDO Carbon Fork is set at $549.00 USD, and it comes with the Maxle Lite axle, along with Niner Bikes’ C5 Carbon Warranty.

Next up we have Niner’s RDO Carbon Seat Post which, as with the other components, will be available in all the colorways mentioned. The story here is what Niner is calling “Unstiff Carbon Layup”, which refers to how the carbon layup for this post is designed to flex along the posts length, adding to comfort. In fact, Niner Bikes claims it will flex “up to twice as much as a traditional post.” Niner Bikes accomplishes this while retaining necessary strength by molding the seat post as a single unit with no bonded on parts, or bonded on metal. Niner claims that the monocoque design is supposed to better disperse energy throughout the structure due to this specific design, all while keeping the weight low.

NIN_RDOPost_MoondustHere are Niner’s technical bullet points on the RDO seat post:

• Unstiff Carbon Layup deflects up to twice as much as traditional post
designs, offering unparalleled comfort.
• Simple and strong 2-bolt clamp, zero setback design
• 27.2mm x 400mm, 30.9mm x 370mm and 31.6mm x 400mm
• 210-220g

Availability is said to be in 4 weeks at dealers in the U.S.A. and overseas. Price is set at MSRP $199.00. The RDO carbon Seat Post also is covered by Niner Bikes’ C5 Carbon Warranty. For more information on any of these frames or components, go to Niner Bikes website.
