MTBNate (or anyone else who wants to chime-in): I had WTB ExiWolfs mounted on my ride last season, and it was like the hand-of-God pushing me back with rolling resistance when it came to riding flats. I switched up to WTB's Bronson's - rolled a heck of a lot better - but the sidewalls weep sealant constantly... Thinking about the Hans Dampfs - but am wondering about how they roll (especially in comparison to the Exiwolfs). Drag? resistance on the flats?

I replaced my well worn (3 yr old) ExiWolfs with Hans and so far in the last 3 wks over 12 rides/120 miles on central New Mexician trails around Albuquerque. I'm blessed with all kinds terrain from hard pack to mountain chunk. So far, Hans has performed great in all of it. Smoothing out the rocks on the Tunnel/Otero trail, sailing sound the desert hard pack of the N Foothills, and rolling the Mars-like single track at White Mesa. These tires are beefy, and are weighty but the effort expended on climbs is more than rewarded on the downhills.

@Bryce: The Hans is a bigger tire, but both the Hans and 29-4 are great tires for the rocky desert where you ride. the 29-4 is about a 58+mm wide while the Hans is a true 2.4"er. It may be determined by which will actually fit your bike.

I love riding down there, by the way. I have relatives living in El Paso and was just there in March.

I've been anxiously awaiting your final report on these and the new Bonty 29-4s. Which of these do you think would be better suited in the Las Cruces/ El Paso desert tracks as a front tire? Currently running the 29-3 front version on a Flow rim and looking for more confident leaned/ off camber cornering with the same good durability and wear.
Thanks for all the great reviews!

I tested the HD on a Flow rim this weekend. It fit fine on my Anthem. Unfortunately that wheel is built up with 5 cogs, so I'm still waiting to ride the HD until I get my new wheels.
