Still wondering why X-fusion didn't put a through axle on the Slide 29... If it had one, I'd buy it. Here's hoping they make a 29er version of the Velvet.

@John Valera: Thanks for the correction. It seems to be another case of confusion at the booth at Frostbike. Interestingly, I asked twice about the travel and the price. Oh well, I'll change it in the article so as to avoid any more confusion. Thanks again.

Correction on the Slide RL2 models: 120mm max travel only. 140mm is only available via the Velvet RL2 and Vengeance models. Pricing on Slide is as follows: 1 1/8" = $400 and Taper is $420. If you have any other questions feel free to email me! Cheers!!!!

@Bob McBob: I have to disagree. The 20mm Hex axle required five fasteners to be fiddled with to the new QR15 Hexlock's one. Most, if not all, pre-built wheel manufacturers are moving to 15mm through axles for their 29"er wheels.

It was a smart move to a better axle system that should have happened two years ago. (Disregarding the diameter) If anything, Manitou should be criticized for this, but saying it is a "down grade" from the previous system just misses the mark entirely in my opinion.

Now if you want to discuss whether a 20mm should have also been designed similar to this, than that is an entirely different conversation, but Manitou sorely needed 15mm through axles in the 29"er fork line up. It was the smartest move they could make between 20mm and 15mm axle standards.
