Hi c_g,

I know it's an old post, but I'd like to know your impressions using 2.0" tires with American Classic All Mountain rims.

Did they fit well, or were too tight?

I have AmClassic AM wheels as well, and I'm looking for a thinner tire for my rear wheel (my Gas29 Stambek frame doesn't have much clearence for the rear wheel, and basically I don't have any space left with my current Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.25)

What other 2.0" tire could I consider with these rims?

@ kurti_sc: You are right, tubeless ready tires are designed to be run with sealant only. I only inflate them initially without sealant to see how airtight they are by themselves. It is a good indicator but nothing to be replicated for real world riding. Vredestein in this regard is doing really well but not exclusive - I have had similar results with multiple tubeless ready tires by GEAX and a few by other manufacturers.

@kurti_sc: Some models of Bontrager TLR tires will also hold air with no sealant. So, it isn't just a Vredestein thing, but admittedly, it is not commonplace for tubeless ready tires.

Vrederstein is well know for high quality road tires around here (south east US), but i've never seen their off-road stuff. it certainly looks interesting.
cg, I must have missed something. You stated that you ran these without sealant initially. These are not UST type tires, but regular old tubeless ready, and light weight to boot! I had no clue that could be done. I've only been running tubeless for about 18 months, but I always use the prescribed amount of sealant and sometimes a bit more if the sidewalls are a little porous. The way these Spotted Cats sealed up sounds pretty awesome. I would definitely like to get my hands on a set.
Thanks for the write up.

@professed. Yes head in the sand for the Aus distributor. I talked to him at a local race 2 weeks ago when he had some 26" tyres on show and was not aware Vredestein produced any 29er tyres. Maybe he needs a few more queries to spark his attention from other 29er riders down under.
