Twenty Nine Inches has received a pair of WTB Kodiak 2.5″ tires to test/review from Niner Bikes, who will be the exclusive distributor of these treads once they come on line in a month or two. For now, we will be giving you our initial impressions of these and also will be comparing them to the WTB Dissent 2.5″ tires we have on test currently.
The Kodiak represents an effort of several years by various folks to bring a tire to market that is aggressive and can hold up to abusive situations well. Meant for all mountain/free ride applications, the Kodiak features big, well supported knobs on a burly casing.
Look for a first impressions post and all the pertinent specs and measurements coming soon!
Note:This product was provided to Twenty Nine Inches at no charge for reviewing. I am not being paid or bribed for this review. I will give my honest opinion or thoughts through out.

You are a cruel, cruel man. It’s pouring here, and I was looking forward to some tread pics, width measurements, and weights. Instead you provide only a teaser — no doubt before heading out on a fun, dry ride.
@Kosmo: Fun dry ride already in the books.
Hopefully it stops pouring and dries up in your neck of the woods soon.
Out Of The Box post coming with tread pics, widths, and weights Tuesday…………
FYI guys, this tire is in stock and shipping. It has gotten good reviews before on various test bikes in prototype form over the years and is VERY sticky. I plan on running one up front of my rigid hardtail so I can be a bit more sloppy during those long night rides. Should be fun!
Niner rocks for pushing the envelope like this, and putting their money where the riders’ hearts are. WTB didn’t have the balls to innovate at own costs this time? Props to Niner for making it happen!!!
