Still sifting through the pics and info here. So another dump of information is coming up. Get ready! (Big pic files, so beware.)
American Classic was showing the new tubeless compatible rims on the revamped wheel sets at Interbike. The rims are set up for Stan’s strips but American Classic is working on its own strip for a later release. The rims are available in a black or white, but all hubs are red anodized.
American Classic has a great idea with the steel insert on the aluminum cassette body to prevent cassette cogs from digging into the free hub body. However, they don’t do this on the single speed hub. They mentioned they may revisit this if they get enough reaction from single speeders.
The hubs, which underwent an upgrade for last year, have seemed to solve the issues once suffered by the older design. The set we have has been flawless so far. With American Classic’s pricing, this hub should get a look from more mountain bikers.
29 inch tire choices just keep getting better. Maxxis showed two new models with the Ardent 2.4″er and the Aspen, which is more of a XC/light trail tire at a 2.1″ size. Both of these should be excellent tires and will be available soon.
The 2010 Marin Alpine Trail features a new look with a straighter top tube and a new color. It is a great entry level 29″er.
The black bike I mistakenly referred to as the Alpine Trail in the Outdoor Demo report was actually a Nail Trail 29er. This is an indoor shot of that bike on the left. The old entry level Hamilton and Muir Woods 29″er/urban bikes have disappeared in favor of this carbon forked, more expensive model. At least it appears it will accept at least a 2.0 tire and Marin does list it as a 29″er.
Stay tuned! I’ve still got more to download!

I have checked the Marin website for their 2010 collection and Hamilton as well as Muirwoods 29ers/urban bikes are there, which is great. My older Muirwoods 29er from 2008 is a fantastic rig and accepts a 2.2 tire (Geax Saguaro, Bontrager Jones) on the rear wheel, although I had to change the front derailler for a narrower one. Greetings from Slovakia, Europe!!
@Michal: Cool, maybe they just didn’t feel a need to show the bike, because they definitely were not in the display booth as far as I could tell.
