Foes Racing B-29: Sneak Peek!

August 26th, 2009 by Guitar Ted

We saw the Foes Racing B-29 prototype at Sea Otter earlier this spring. However; Brent Foes said there needed to be tweaks and redesigns of some of the frame details before it would be approved for limited production. Well, it looks as though that day is nigh.

The frame has been undergoing several revisions and now will be offered as a frame with the Curnutt damper at the end of September for an MSRP of $2999.00. There is said to be a Fox RP23 option in the works which is slated to become available in January.

We are working on getting a first ride of the production frame after Eurobike next week. Stay tuned for more……

In other Foes news, the Cyclistsite, our sister website, is working on getting a ride and report on Foes racing’s commuter rig, the Pasadena. Click the links for more.

    OK, I’ll bite.

Seriously, $3k for an aluminum frame?

Foes has always been the bike I lust after but never quite own. I respect so much of what they do, but that is over the top!

I agree, and RP23 not being available until after Xmas is also a nice way to force ppl to buy the curnutt ones. Not cool

Meh. Why buy this when you could buy a complete bike with better tech for 25% less. Don’t get the angle.

Perhaps Foes should take a look at the comments here. $3K for a single pivot frame – I don’t think they’ll find a lot of customers to pony up that much money for that type of frame. You could buy 3 single pivot Astrix Monks for the price of 1 Foes. That sort of math doesn’t add up even with Foes being produced in house.

What about Lenz….handmade, proprietary production techniques, much less cash. Heaps of 29″ experience. No marketing hype, though.

3k for a single pivot 29er in aluminum? Guess he doesn’t want to sell many. Is that 3k price really correct?

Nice looking rig and great standover… but $3K? You must be kidding! After converting that to AUD I’m shuddering…

Disappointing because I’ve always liked Foes…

I feel the same way. Foes has always been on my lust after list with their sweet and simple designs, build quality and reputation. However, their pricing has always been rediculous. Niner has set the bar for value IMO. You can get a RIP 9 Frame and a Fox F-29 fork for $2200. I haven’t seen anyone beet that.

I think niners even too high (niner FS that is, I ride a niner HT). Specialized and Fisher are setting the new bar for FS IMO. I make good $$ in this country, but I will never be able to justify that sort of expenditure.

With a name like B-29 I was expecting something much more curvy, and perhaps titanium. Google Image Search for “Willits B29″ if you don’t know what I’m talking about.

You don’t get it. Price equals performance! All hail recycled beer cans!

Put your deposits in quick I predict a rush and waiting list!
