Superfly 100 specs: Here is how the 2010 Superfly 100 will be spec’ed out. This info was sourced straight from Fisher. Interestingly, it will use SRAM “Design Your Ride” touches and not a XX group.

Shed Fire Leaks Pics Of New Off Road Drop Bar: Well, I will admit that this isn’t really a 29″er specific part. However; many of us 29″er freaks are using “alt bars” and I thought this would be of interest here. Brant Richards, formerly of On One and now running his own design firm under the Shed Fire name, has released images of a new off road drop bar he is calling the “Luxy Bar”. Check out the following images of the very raw prototype bar. Certainly there will be refinements and tweaks, so be aware that the final production bar may differ slightly.
As you can see, there is sweep to the extensions and they are longer than the current Midge Bar extensions. Also, the bar will initially be available in a 583mm or thereabouts. The sweep on the extension is 120 degrees from the plane of the top section. Also noteworthy is that the clamp diameter is 31.8mm and that dimension will be extended across the entire top section of the bar. No word on availability or on pricing as yet.
Santa Cruz Tallboy 29″er We’re hearing that Santa Cruz’s Rob Roskopp was quoted as saying the new Tallboy 29″er will indeed be at Interbike, the annual U.S. trade show for cycling held in the fall. He also tipped off that the frame will be under 5lbs weight in carbon fiber. Pretty impressive. We’ll be looking forward to seeing this at the fall show.
Ellsworth Carbon Fiber 29″er Tony Ellsworth of Ellsworth bikes was showing off a new 26 inch wheeled carbon fiber hardtail frame and let on that a 29 inch version would be forth coming. No word yet on what the frame details will be or where it will be made, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for this one.
I like the looks of the Luxy bar and like 31.8, but do hope that there is a 25.4 version so we can use existing stems. Don’t know that the range of high-rise stems is the same in 31.8?
It’s odd how different the SF100 is from the bike JHK rode the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago it had the Noir group with a Reba, a riser bar and Juicy Ultimates, last week it had all XX – and now this spec… which is not very weight conscious compared to both of those previous build-ups. His bike did have a press-fit BB, though. Will the production bike?
My guess is that XX is too pricey for Fisher to risk not selling as many units of this bike, so they went with Noir (hardly a bad choice, but lacking the low weight that would make this bike really stand out).
@ the Fly 100 – pretty much how I would spec the bike – would probably ship the wheels to Mikesee for some better hubs or slap on a pair of my ’08 RXLs, though. Would try the tires, but I bet I will end up like my other Flys – XDX rear, 29-3 front. I am just not as skillful as JHK, especially in the rockier stuff we ride out West, so I like the volume.

Smart spec IMO. A great spec for trail riding as well as XC riding. My guess is that a 100mm 29er will get more use as a trail bike than a pure XC bike. The die-hard XC guys can upgrade to the XX stuff later.
Retail price is $5599. GF dealers can order them as of today.
5600? Well, that would be my most expensive bike…but that is a lot of bike for the money. A Scott for example, with this kind of tech and spec would be a lot more. And a 26er.
If you happen to have 5600.00 for a new bike these days, I salute you. Sure, it’s “Superfly”, as in pimp, but damn.
Looks like the lightest 29er dualie frame by far. Too bad about so many cheesy component choices. Looks like a SF100XX has to be in the offing later.
The longer extensions make that bar awesome -that’s one reason I hunt down old WTB dirt-drops rather than just buy a midge. Like GreenLightGo, I haven’t really looked into high-rise OS stems, but it seems like on my 29er with a suspension fork that’s less of an issue than on my cyclocross bike.
