I have ridden my X/C one single speed wheels this year and done about 12 races on them. The whhels feel great, but do have a problem. the bearing pre-load adjusters, (the ones with the little holes in them with the + and - sighn) do not stay adjusted, in fact they spin loose, causing the wheel to wobble, and dirt to get into the free wheel. I have been in contact with Easton Tech, and they admitited it is a design flaw. Supposedly the new 2010 models have been re-designed to correct this flaw, meantime, Easton, has suggested locktight, and has sent me new o rings for the adjusters, neither of which worked. I have just finished shipping the wheels back, hoping to get a new re designed set to take care of the problem. lot of money for a wheel set to have this kind of issue. As for the clicking sound you mentioned on engagement, I also hear that on occasion, not sure if the freewheel is not engaging cleanly, or if the sound is coming from my eccentric. Thanks Bob Mac

@DJ: Probably a very subjective subject there. It really is hard to quantify, and a lot goes into how well a wheel rolls. (Tires anyone?) That said, these bearings feel on par with those two offerings you mention, in the hand at least.

GT - I'd believe that! I have relatively mundane EA50 road wheels and they roll exceedingly well. Better than XT hubs, better than my Kings, better than my Hopes. FWIW - Easton has opened my eyes to some good quality components.
