Hey man, i just wanted to chime in on the mud thing. These same LKs came on my Spesh Stumpy 29er Comp. While I preferred Exiwolfs for many of the same reasons that you point out as shortcomings on the LKs, I had no problem in the mud with them. I spent the first 100 miles or so riding some private trails with several mud pits. We're talking dense Georgia clay type stuff. It's really slimy, and very slick. But I had no problem with any part of it on the LKs. One upside to them is how light they are though. When I eventually swapped out for some 2.3 Exiwolfs, I could tell a difference in the extra weight. But the Exi's made up for it in hard cornering and billy-goat grip. Although the LKs also gripped up pretty well too, just not quite as good as the Exiwolfs do for me.
