if you crash hard enough or jam a derailuer bad enough to bend a ti frame the bent hanger will be the least of your worries. ti is awesome not soft like steel. it will shift better also without an aluminum hanger, stiffer. ti hardtails ride incredible compaerd to any other material. go ti never look back.

Nichol: Hey, thanks for sharing that. It's excellent information, and hopefully will quell the worries of many that had concerns over this issue. Thanks, and no- it doesn't cause any issues with this site. :)

I can also tell you that one of these frames is on its way to Twenty Nine Inches for a test/review soon. Stay tuned! ;)

I plan on picking up one of the new lynskey 29ers, and emailed Lynskey because I had concerns too about the non replaceable hanger. Mark Lynskey emailed me back the same day - a Sunday - with this :

We get the rear derailleur hangar question from time to time. It’s a fair question because as you state if a non-replaceable hangar becomes non-functional you’re pretty much hosed, at least in the short term. The long and short of it is that as long as the design is proper the odds of wrecking a titanium hangar are extremely slim. It’s actually pretty much an non-issue. We simply don’t have people calling up with bent derailleur problems. The material is not only very resilient it is extremely tough. In fact if you were to bend a ti derailleur hangar it will accept you bending it back in place much more than steel. Properly understood this becomes a benefit on the road or trail as should damage occur you can make adjustments and get on with your ride. In 25 yrs I can only remember 2 times where the hangar was so mangled that it needed to come back for factory repair. Both were covered under warranty.

hope this message doesn't jam up the blog...

Looks nice. The only thing I don't care for is the der. hanger. Not replaceable? Really? Charge an extra few buck and change that. I'd hate to bend/break that and then have to go through the process of getting it fixed from Lynskey or another frame welder.
