Origin-8 is not getting out of 29′ers. There will be a brand new Scout29 chromoly frameset launched at Interbike 2009!

Desert9r: Yeah, I believe it just refers to both Scout models. The wheel set I have not seen. I understand it weighs nearly 2000 grams though. I will try to get more info on that again.

by “getting out of 29ers entirely”, I hope that means, just stopping production of the Scout.

the fork is Sweet, and I was just thinking about getting a wheelset, although I have a few questions about them,

do you know the with of the rim?
also the weight?

GLG: After coming so agonizingly close to producing that titanium rig, J&B killed the project.

I also hear that they are getting out of 29″ers entirely.

GLG: Cool! I do know that there was an early proto that had a much more “Lynskey-like” look to it. (It didn’t have the top tube to seat tube brace, for instance.) So, it is entirely possible that you saw that bike. I have seen a photo of it, so I am aware that it actually exists.

GT – a couple of weekends ago, I met two guys on the trail – one who works in the “industry” down here. My assumption is J&B – I have yet to see this prototype but he was riding a different Ti proto – probably older b/c it was well used (and he rode the snot out of it)!

Big Dave: Well, it’s not uncommon to see that situation on 29″ers. The latest trick is to use a new SLX front mech which has a neat angle to the cage in the rear and is a bit shorter in length than most compact front mechs. While you still might experience rub on a geared drive train at the shorter chain stay lengths, the single speeders will be able to take advantage of it with no issues.

Run gears and think that sucks? Well, that does suck, but remember, short chain stays aren’t all they are cracked up to be on geared hard tails nor on many courses. In other words, just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
