I saw a guy walking out of the dessert with a broken belt at interbike. I asked him where his belt tool was.

Brad: Carbon Drive systems has made the size of the sprockets bigger, and also the size of the teeth too, so that you can run a lower tension and it is less likely to slip.

I'm a 230lb 6'7" time trial roadie. When I tested the Spot at Sea otter, I failed the belt on an uphill sprint. Still have the scars to prove it. Maybe an 18# single speed with a stretchy belt should carry a rider limit. Otherwise, the bike was nimble and fun as s&%t to ride.

skidder: Yeah, it rides great, actually. I have ridden it before, last year at the show as a matter of fact. They still are refining the technology, but look for belt drive bikes to stick this time around. Especially in the commuter market.
