Spinner 2Nine Suspension Fork: Out Of The Box
August 28th, 2008 by Guitar TedTwenty Nine Inches has recieved a new Spinner “2Nine RLC” suspension fork to test and review. The Spinner line up consists of three different versions of the 2Nine, but the “RLC” model is the only one getting wide distribution here in the States. The RLC is the air sprung version of the 2Nine.

The 2Nine series forks all support cantilever or disc brake applications much like the RST M-29 we tested last year. The Spinner fork and the RST have many other similarities as well.

The Spinner 2Nine has rebound control, a lock out, and air an adjustable cartridge. Tuning the fork should be simple and having a lock out is great for those pavement to trail rides or those extended climbing sessions. The offset on the Spinner fork is listed at 43mm and the axle to crown measurement is 490mm. The travel on our example, (with a special silver paint, stock forks will be flat black) is listed at 80mm. There is a 100mm option available. Our test sample weighs 4.18lbs with a steer tube cut at 8″, star nut, and Cane Creek headset race installed. The steer tube is alloy on this model.
We have this fork installed and it is being test ridden now. We will bew back with a First Impressions post very soon!

Well, since RST can’t seem to keep up with demand, maybe this will be the next darling of the budget forks.
It would be kinda cool to see a removeable (like bolt on) canti mount. Make a casting that uses 3 or 4 screws to mount with and a cover piece that fits the spot when the canti mounts are removed.
At least I would like it!

Is spinner a sub comp of one of the big boys ?
jason: I take it that by writing “sub comp”, you are meaning “sub contractor”? If so, then yes, Spinner has for quite some time been making rigid and suspended forks for bicycle companies. I think I remember seeing the “Spinner bird” on forks as old as 80’s vintage. They have been doing basically OEM lower end to mid level stuff, (much the same as RST) until recently when they made an effort to sell under there own brand name with nicer product. This fork we have is an example of those efforts.
