OS Bikes Blackbuck: First Look

Here is the finished build of the OS Bikes Blackbuck that Twenty Nine Inches will be testing soon. ( As soon as our trails clear up!) I thought I would post up these images so that everyone could see just what we’ve got to work with here.
The build itself went without incident. The frame was very well finished, no burrs or funky problems with threads or with the EBB either.
Again, to remind everyone, we will be using this as a test sled for determining the effects of different forks on the handling of one 29″er. In this case, it is the Blackbuck. It is a particular interesting choice in that OS Bikes sells it with a Reba fork in the complete bike package or with a rigid, non-suspension corrected fork if you want with the frame only option.
I chose to transfer over my On One Superlight Carbon fork over to the Blackbuck first. This was done so that I can become familiarized with the Blackbucks traits and not have to wonder about the steering since the geometry will be very near to what it was with the Inbred that the fork was on previously.
After the initial “get to know you” phase is out of the way, I’ll then mount up the Blackbuck rigid fork and do a comparison. I’ll also be swapping out to a Reba and an RST M-29 as the testing continues.

bdog: Clipless to come. Those are just flats on their for the test ride.
TED!!!!!!!: The cranks are old Race Face Turbine LP’s from 1995. I have used these cranks off and on since then on various bikes. Race Face really should make these again, they are very well made and decently light. This particular set is 110/74 BCD and is 180mm in length. Perfect for single speeding!
Because the rear brake cable routing goes under the down tube does that mean you must run hydraulic brakes? Or are there cable stops for an un-enclosed cable to run?
those look like mechanical avid bb7 brakes using the aluminum segmented cable housing.

Dust: emetal is correct. I am running mech disc brakes/Nokon housings. However; the complete version of the Blackbuck comes with Avid Juicy hydro brakes, so it is compatible with either type of brake system.
What do you have mounted to the seat post?

rick: Those are aluminum clamps made to hold an extra water bottle cage. I have a 200 mile gravel road race this coming May and I am using this bike in it.

DUUUUUDE! Old school Ano build kit! Very nice. Brings me back to the days of my youth, wandering the hallowed halls of the Mount Snow exhibitors tent and seeing all the blue and purple ano. YAY ANO!!
Mike: Hey, thanks for pointing out that Topeak number. I didn’t know about that cage.
I happen to have a Blackburn Bomber Cage, (at least thats what we called ‘em back in the day) trouble is, I hardly ever see the two liter bottles in stores to fit it anymore. I wasn’t aware that WTB did that design either, which makes it all the more special to me. (Ya gotta be a “retro-grouch” to understand, I think. 
)
The “plan” is to get the Bomber Cage to work and go with the water bottle off the seat post. That way I can go without a hydration pack, which will be helpful from a fatigue standpoint.

Bomber, B52, I can’t remember now for sure. Charlie C did that cage because he didn’t like the taste of the plastic water bottles of the era and liked being able to carry more water on his rides.
