Joao: Hey, thanks for your comment and kind words.

First of all, I am not sure why you are running such high pressures on your tubeless set up. I weigh 240lbs and never run my pressures anywhere near 40psi. Even in rocks. This sounds strange to me.

Secondly, are your flats related to your valve stem? I am not clear as to why you have experienced two flats in such a short time. Obviously, sealant would/should seal up any punctures, so this leads me to believe you are meaning that your valve stem is the culprit here.

Two things to look at if your valve stem is leaking, (which you can tell by spraying a soapy solution of water on the valve stem and watch for any foaming or bubbles to appear. If they do, there is your leak) You can make sure that the rubber "o" ring is in place on the base of the valve stem on the inside of the rim. It should seal off the interface of the plastic rim strip and the valve stems base. Secondly, you should check to see that the removeable valve core is tight. If it is not, the tire will leak down quickly.

Also, your initial Stan's application should be followed by an immediate ride of about 20-30 minutes to help fully seal the beads and get the sealant to wash all over the inside of the tire casing to help seal it up.

If I am not understanding you, please hit me up with an e-mail directly using the link on the right side of this page.

Thanks Guitar Ted and all of you guys, for the helpfull posts.

I have a GF Hi-Fi Pro 29" I ordered from the dealer the black strips and valves. anl I'll put Stands,
Now I have to run in high pressures 40psi, already 2 flats in 20 hours rides...
Is it realy necessary to use Bontrager valves on Elite wheels?

GT,
I have a SpeedDream built Bontrager Mustang rim - do these work with the tubeless system? Also, I came across a good deal on some "race day" Spinergy wheels for the 29er - do you know much about them and would you recommend?
I'm thinking you would recommend an RST on a Jabberwocky over my Reba because of the offset, but how would a WB rigid perform?

Caught Brendan C. on the trail the other day, and your name came up. I, too, hope to get a little time on the Song when he has one available.

Matt g
The 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo race was harsh this year. Rain and Snow preceded the start for 24 hours. Fortunately the desert drys quickly. The Bontrager RaceXLite 29 wheels were fantastic. Once I set the air pressure at about 33lbs, I never checked them again, except to give them a squeeze. There was plenty of cacti in the trail, I assume from people hitting the ones on the edge of the trail. Of course you try and avoid them, but there are some that are impossible to miss. I don't think I ever took a thorn in the wheel though. I used the Bontrager rim strips and Stans No Tubes solution. It got down to about 30 degrees two nights in a row and I had no problems at all. The Superfly and the wheelset performed flawlessly.
