More Cannondale Rumor Updates
May 22nd, 2007 by Guitar TedIf you missed the last Cannondale rumors post, you can find it here. Today, I want to add some updated information I have gathered concerning Cannondale ‘08 29″ers and nip a couple of other things in the bud before they blossom!
First, the single speed 29″er is indeed coming and will definitely be front suspended. In all likelyhood it will be a Lefty, since developing a 29″er specific Headshok would require a whole new R & D run with more testing. Why mess with it when you already have a really good front suspender that works for 29″ers?
Secondly, the earlier rumor had it that there would be two versions of the F-29 Caffeine 29″er. Basically two different spec levels. Well now I have it on good authority that it will in fact be four different spec levels. That’s good news from a choice standpoint. No word on spec particulars, but it would stand to reason that a full on, blingeriffic F-29 with the highest spec Lefty would be a part of this line up.
Also, all the F-29 frame production will be U.S. built. You might be wondering why I would write that. Well, it’s because Cannondale is going to source some 26″er frame production from Taiwan. Again, no 29″er stuff will be made outside of Bedford, PA. I just wanted to make that clear before someone speculates that these new hardtails due out in June are an indication of where Cannondale is going with the new F-29 models. This doesn’t make a hill of beans difference to me personally, but I realize some hold U.S. frame production in high regard. (Even though everything bolted/mounted to that frame is from overseas! Hmmm……..) Anyway, that’s another post for a different forum.
So, a little more comes to light about the Cannondale 29″er line up. It is reported that the ‘07 F-29 far exceeded their expectations, so this is reflected in an expanded lineup for ‘08.

Sounds interesting but for me it will be GREAT if Cannondale will be on the market with a FULL Suspension RUSH 29er
M@RCO: I agree!
Any word on geometry changes?
Dave: Other than the confirmed tire clearance changes in the seat stay area, I can not verify that anything has been tweaked. However; I was told that Cannondale was very sensitive to the criticisms of the first gen F-29’s, so a change in geometry to mirror the way their 26″ers fit wouldn’t be out of the question. (That’s something they claimed about the ‘07 F-29’s, by the way)
I have heard rumors of a 29″ Scalpel. To me that would be the best for endurance racing. I rarely ride my Scalpel or Rush now since building the F29. But it would be nice on some rides to have a little bit of cushion in the rear.
SteveK: I talked to a Cannondale guy about their carbon Scalpel 26″er that’s coming out and I mentioned that it would be cool to see a 29″er Scalpel. His reaction was to look sideways, which I thought was odd, but it might be that he was avoiding the temptation to say something. Maybe……hopefully…….:)
K, let me get this out of my system so the Cdale cult can unleash upon me their fury of annoying insults…..
BOOOOOOOO!!!!!! CRAKENFAIL, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
O W T !
There, there Mr. McGirt……now don’t you feel better?
Hey, it’s okay if you don’t like ‘em. But keep in mind, they are just two wheeled contraptions and that makes ‘em cool right there, as far as I’m concerned. The more folks on bikes, the better.
Sometimes we all need to take a step or two back and look at the bigger picture, don’t you think?
Aaah, the Dutch Cannondale fans are going to hate this news! They WILL be assimilated.
Yo yo yoooo!!! I told you!!!!!!!

Peep game, sukkaz!!
yo yo Dirt: Known about it for two weeks now. Here’s the real scoop: Cannondale had a small run of Leftys go out with improper locktiting of the damper shaft threads. So, since it was literally impossible to identify which small run it was, they owned it and recalled them all.
That’s stand up responsibility on their part.
And for the record, no bicycle company is immune from such things.
Not one!
I know that! It’s just that you guys hold CAnnondale in such high regard when they have one of the worst track records for customer satisfaction for a company that’s still around more or less. Oh well. You east coasters, I tell ya…..
At the risk of “here we go again……”
What’s the problem with liking something and sticking by it? Good grief, people swear by their auto purchases no matter how bad a ‘track record’ the auto’s might have. OK maybe that’s a bad analogy……
Dirt, is there a solution you have to offer besides “buy sumthin’ else”.
Oh….I forgot….you’re not trying to stir things up here…just have a little fun.
Sorry….please disregard. Oh, you have already.
If not, then who should we throw our dollars to? Who is the perfect company?
Ohhhhh… I hurt feelings again……… off I go to wrench and ride!!! Sorry, touchy cannondale guys!! I didn’t mean to hit a tender area, there. But then again, it’s hard NOT to. Lighten up for christ’s sake! I think I’ll stick to the Dirt Rag Forums. This place is full of sensi’s.
O W T
well daggummit!! You didn’t answer my question and now yer runnin..er…wrenchin’ & ridin’ off into the ether.
I didn’t mean to come off sounding touchy or sensitive. I’m asking your personal opinion regarding what company in your experience is doing the best job.
If not Cannodle (actually saw a frame sticker come out of the box with that one) then that’s fine. I’m not married to the company. I just rode the bike & liked it. When you show up why don’t you offer good criticism and help?
So..oh great bike Sansei (sorry..bad play on words from your useage of “sensi’s” and common useage of the term sansei in regard to wise teacher…and I think I screwed that up too.)
take 2: So….If I were to ask you face to face what company I should throw my money to for a solid non-cracking bike and excellent customer satisfaction and support…who would that be?
Personally I think I’d like a Niner but I’d like to ride one before I drop the bread.
What say you?
Dave: Don’t worry about Dirt. We usually refer to people like him as “trolls”, which cruise different sites and stir up trouble because they know they can.
You are not going to find a perfect company with a perfect track record.
Cannondale may have had some recalls. Okay, big whoop. So does everyone else. I’m not a Cannondale freak, fan, or supporter. They make bikes that ride pretty dang nice, (yes, I have actually ridden recently made Cannondales) and they have stringent testing standards. I think they are doing their best to rectify this current problem, just like most companies would that want to stay in business and make money, (which is the motivating factor that really matters).
And as far as Dirt going back to the Dirt Rag forums, that’s just fine. We know you don’t like Cannondale. We get it. If there’s nothing else constructive to add, then you might as well go.
One Word:
Redline
No one can dispute that. The fewest warranties that I have (in 15 years in the business) seen, solid product, low prices, great spec. And here’s the kicker!! They have NEVER used their customers as R&D lab rats without their knowing like a certain other company that is completely different than it was before it went bankrupt. Said “company” will remain nameless…….
Well, that’s it from me for at least a long time. I leave you with this kind thought:
“At least Giant doesn’t make 29ers!”
O W T
Hey Mcdirt why dont you Upchuck your Cdale HatterAid to people who care.
Whats the old saying “better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all” Redline’s have A face only A mother can love, no one warrantie’s those 30 pound pigs because no one rides them more than twice. Look on mtbr at the wheels for sale and see they have like 10 redline twentynine wheels for sale. One word Heavy. Ill take A light weight bike that lasts one year over an ugly PIG that lasts ten years any day.
Speaking of sucking, these new bontrager Jone’s Tubeless ready tire’s suck. I bought one to run tubeless on the back wheel tore the sidewall in two rides. Its only A 60 tpi tire with thick sidewalls. Bonty tubeless tires arent ready for primetime thats for dam sure.
Any word on Huchinsons UST Python release?
About tubeless tires is 2 months I’m using a pair of Maxxis Ignitor 2.1 on Notubes rims ZTR ARCH, as the ones shown here on a old post. I use sealant ofcourse and right now it seems to work well, and wheelset with WTB Laser hubs is light too.
Weight weenies, sheeeeeeesh!! Grow some cojones, ese, and get out there and ride, NANCY!
FINK: I ride alot more than you, thats why I demand better. Come down to az and ride, ill make you my Nancy. Redline should rename their original ss 29 the pig.
Ohhhh, the bravado in here just went off the charts!! How bout you come up to Seattle and we play hide and go f#$k yourself? Douchebag
what is this a bitch blog? shut up and ride!
redline sux
So does cannondale. That’s the point that was origionally trying to be put across, I beleive.
Fink: Thanks for the invite, but I have better things to do than go play soggy cookie in Birkinstocks.
Any one heard any news about at fully rigid 29er 1FG from C’dale? My shop talked with our sales rep and heard that it was in development and on the table for approval.
