Great thanks for the info. Sounds like HB is doing what SRAM did in buying up Avid, RockShok & Truvativ. Hope this works for them like it has for SRAM.
Also I have been riding my XXIX-G since December every weekend and have made many changes to it. I was wondering if you would like a write up on it? I do live in Utah and the riding here is a bit different than where you are. Every ride includes lots of climbing and great technical sections with of course great downhill action!

Rocket: Mavic is in fact working on a 29"er wheelset, but not much has been revealed about it yet. Perhaps a Sea Otter appearance will be made. We've been hearing that there is work being done on the project since before the last Interbike.

Hutchinson is supposedly also working on a Python 29"er tire, but nothing has been seen of that either. Could it be that the Mavic/Hutchinson products are UST? Hmm......

Sun/Ringle' was recently purchased and moved to HB Performance Systems headquarters in Mequon, Wisconsin. (HB is Hayes Brakes, who have been on a buying spree gobbling up Answer/Manitou suspension and Wheelsmith Spokes as well) Since this new developement, I wouldn't expect new 29"er specific product roll outs soon. We might see something at Interbike, but not before then.

A good, strong rim for more aggressive riding for you might be the Kris Holm unicycle rim, available in 29"er size. Several 29"er guys are using this rim with great results for all mountain type riding with drops, jumps, and plenty of rock thrown in. Check that rim out. I think it might be your best bet.

Any rumors of Mavic or Sun Ringle hopping on board the 29er wheels?

I'm running WTB and they are very weak. I would like to see Sun come out with a 29er version of thier single track wheel, They are bomb proof. I see that weight can be an issue but I would rather have a wheel that I don't have to true every other ride.

Thanks
