Weather Delays: Updates Coming!

March 5th, 2007 by Guitar Ted

Since the weather has been contrary in this neck of the woods, several test/reviews have been in a holding pattern for awhile. Happily I can report that the weather is turning towards spring and an opportunity to test at a remote location has presented itself. This means that updates for the following products will be coming your way soon:

WTB Weir Wolf Tires: These big treads are being tested yet, but so far we haven’t really had the opportunity to thrash them on real dirt. Plenty of snow/ice riding has been accomplished which the tire really does well on. Look for an update in a couple of weeks that will include plenty of real dirt feedback!

Bontrager Tubeless Ready Wheel Set: I have these wheels mounted up on my personal Haro Mary XC and have just begun to get a few rides logged on them. Look for a new update on these wheels in about three weeks. So far, no issues with them. Even though they have a lower spoke count, (28) they don’t appear to have any unwarranted flex. More on that later.

Velocity Blunt Rims: The new Velocity Blunt 29″er rim is impressing me with it’s wide width giving my tires a more stable footprint and doing so without a hint of flex in the conditions I’ve ridden in so far. An update in a couple of weeks will show us how they fare in more hostile conditions than winter can drum up here.

Raleigh XXIX+G : This bike has undergone radical changes since I’ve gotten it. It’s sort of become a “test sled” for some of the other products that Twenty Nine Inches has recieved to test/review. The basic steel goodness remains; however, so I’ll be chiming in with my thoughts on this bike again real soon.

Michelin XC AT 2.00 Tires: These tires have been quite impressive for their versatility, durability, and performance so far. I have to give them poor marks for snowy/icy conditions, but that’s outside of this tires mission statement anyway. Look for a test in some sandy, rocky terrain coming up soon. Still, I wish Michelin would introduce this tread in a true 2.3″ as it would be better suited to the task of handling severe conditions on an all mountain 29″er in that width. Stay tuned!

Okay, that’s alot, and there is still more coming! Stay tuned to Twenty Nine Inches for a constant stream of product testing and reviews starting soon! Spring is coming and riding season is just getting cranked up again! Wahoo!

Hi-After reading about the Raleigh XXXlX+G, I ran into another steel 29′er at a local shop, the KHS Tuscon. Anybody have any experience with this bike? Thanks!
