Out of the Box: WTB WeirWolf LT 29
January 22nd, 2007 by Tim GrahlI have received a set of the WTB WeirWolf LT 29 tires (posted about here) and installed them last night on the GT Peace 9er. Since our trails have been nothing but muck around here there’s been more road riding then singletrack but I figured I’d get them installed so I could hit the trails with them when they dry up enough.
Knobs look great for cornering and I’m looking forward to the added suspension of the 2.55 inches. Here’s the pics I took… click to see them bigger.

…have fun in our Lynchburg clay with those babies
Did you get a weight on it? I saw one listing and it was in the low 700’s, which I think was lighter than the 2.3 tire they have.
They look like they’d roll fast, but they look more like a SoCal hardpack, sandy soil type of tire rather than an east coast rocks, roots, and mud type of tire.
My friend has one on the front, and he did not like it at all. It would slid out too easy in corners. BTW, we are in so cal, and it did not do so hot. I think it would make a good rear tire, and that is about it.
I run these on my 26er (the tread is much more shallow on the 29er version) and they are great here in maine. I now have one on the front of my Rita and it really is pretty nice thus far (snow and hardpack). If it ends up 1/2 as good as teh 26″ version I’ll be very happy.
