[...] I have received a set of the WTB WeirWolf LT 29 tires (posted about here) and installed them last night on the GT Peace 9er. Since our trails have been nothing but muck around here there’s been more road riding then singletrack but I figured I’d get them installed so I could hit the trails with them when they dry up enough.
I think the first shipment out there showed lower weights than that 940g. who can confirm here?

60 durometer rubber? I'm shaving the knobs off to have my own lightweight beach race tires! Big Apples 2.35 (57mm casing) are just under 1kg. Shaved, WW's may be

Tim, the comment was in general, not a relation to the size. For a big fatty tire 940g might be fine, but not all of us want to run rubber that big. I'm pretty happy with my Bontragers and IRC tires in the 2.1-2.2 size range (and yes I do run fully rigid on my SS) and don't feel a need to run wider tires (I'm 200+ lbs running 25 psi).

I have an ExiWolf that came with a wheel purchase but have yet to run it in the front. And if we are talking about front, then it's not such a big deal anyway. And to be quite honest, I haven't compared specs on the net for different sized tires. Maybe I'll go hang out at Shiggy's site...

Hugs and kisses!

Sure maybe 940 grams is hefty compared to other 29er tires... but what tires are you comparing them to? These are 2.55 inches wide. At that width I'm thinking the 940 gram mark isn't to awful.

Yeah, 940 grams is a bit much (even though it is a big fat tire!) when one is used to running around 650 grams. Depending on your ride it might just be the ticket....

Seriously, is 940 grams really considered light? What other tires are in the category they refer to? Not bashing on the tire....in fact it looks like the perfect tire for my rigid Walt. 940 just seems a bit chunky compared to most of the tires I've seen people rolling.

@ 940g why talk about light? Why not beef them up and call it a DH tire?

I would think this would make for a kickass front tire especially in dry/hardpack conditions!

-kw has a great point. Side knobs. It's what the Exi lacked and one of the things I disliked about that tread.

The reports I have seen have been favorable on this tire. I think it's got alot of great applications. I look forward to running one on the front of my single speed rigid bikes soon.

Fast as hell. Fatter casing than you think. Run it on the front and run it low pressure, fools!. Side knobs eat singletrack corners for breakfast.
