I just don’t think 29ers are going to catch on. I read on some other sight where a 26er was actually faster around a course than the 29 inch bike. I think it was the extra weight and slow acceleration of the 29 bikes.

    From Wikipedia:

In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who enters an established community such as an online discussion forum [or a blog] and intentionally tries to cause disruption, often in the form of posting messages that are off-topic, with the intent of provoking a reaction from others.

Keep us posted, especially with a review on any lateral frame flex. The rig is a banging deal, but why oh why can’t Fisher address that exposed seat tube portion above the TT in a manner that would instill confidence in me as a consumer.

I can understand where you’re coming from, MMcG. I’ve heard of the extruded seat tube breaking on some older Paragons, but supposedly they fixed the issue. I have a Rig (’05) and a Paragon (’07), and I’ve never noticed any flex in either (though I weigh a scant 145, I put out a good deal of power).

Great site guys! Keep up the awesome work!

I have an 06 rig and love it. You have to really coat the ebb with your choice of lube or anti-seize, to keep it from making noise. The drawback is that the ebb slips a little after 3 or 4 hard rides, let me know if you come up with a magic trick for me.

I sold my khs904r and only ride the rig now.

MMcG: I can vouch personally that the lateral frame flex on the ZR9000 Fisher frames (or lack there of). Being a clydesdale, I am always concerned with that sort of thing. Lateral flex was the reason I got away from Fishers for a number of years because I would flex the frame out completely within a season. The new external butting has taken care of a lot of that. And it looks dead sexay!

    Hey Tim,
Youv’e had the rig for awhile how about giving us your detailed impressions of this bike…..

Angus and everyone else, I apologize for the delay on followups for this and the other reviews I’m working on. Between some fights with the flu and colds and some pretty crappy weather here, I haven’t gotten enough rides on the Rig to give a decent followup post. I’m hoping the weather stays dry long enough to get some good rides in the coming weeks.

Thanks for staying tuned to twentynineinches.com, there’s more right around the corner.

In response to Jason, I have found that spider web grease from Rock and Roll to be the solution to the bottom bracket problem. One problem with the bottom bracket is if you strip out the bolt you have to go through an agonizing process of finding a bolt at a local nuts and bolts establishment. They usually have to order one in.

Re Trevors comment i stripped my bb bolt yesterday and have sourced some off ebay for £2.50 for 6 delivered, you need a M5 x 60mm socket type allen bolt. in the mean time i found a spare kicking about in my shed to get me by till it delivered. took me over 1/2 hour to get the sheared bolt out and strip it all down so i wont be giving the new bolts as much beasting

  13. 13 Martin

Mybad! It’s m6 but i am uncertain as to if its classed as 50mm or 60mm as the total length is 60mm but the shank is 50mm so i have now ordered some m6 50mm to see if they work, i pinced a bolt off my motorbike to get me by whislt i wait :)

  14. 14 Martin

finall got there, m6 60mm sorted it, cost 18p plus vat a bolt so i had 10 just incase :) now to work out if the ebb is moving or if im stretching the chain, ive marked the bb for tomorrows ride so i can tell easily
