The Big ‘S’ 29er maybe, I dunno, kinda confirmed
November 7th, 2006 by Tim GrahlI’ve been working to confirm the rumors on an ‘08 Specialized 29er and this is what I’ve got from an anonymous source close to our favorite big red ‘S’…
There are some 29er prototypes floating around the shop but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. They’re always building some one-off stuff, much of which never meets the bright lights of a show room floor. Obviously they’re still in the planning stages for ‘08 and nothing will be put in stone until early Spring of ‘07.

the red S has alot of catchup to do. they are wise to take an extra year to get it right. it would’ve been worse to be a year earlier with ill-conceived product. being such a major player and being this late in the game their first 29er offering needs to be ki!!er.
An 29′er Enduro SL (NOT CARBON!) would be a nice jump in as would a Stumpy FSR..
Common guys, Specialized already produces a 29er. Don’t believe me? Check it out…Its called the crosstrail and its in the ‘07 catelog. It isn’t the most badass machine, but maybe its an attempt to perfect the geometry before the release of the badass line.
