Also, check out their front page. They are doing a contest for the following prizes:

1st Prize - A custom wheelset built on either the new ZTR Flow or ZTR Arch rims in 26 or 29″ (your choice) using any of the hubs we have in stock, a NoTubes T-shirt, and a pair of NoTubes cycling socks.

2nd Prize - One pair of ZTR Flow or ZTR Arch rims (your choice), a NoTubes T-shirt, and a pair of NoTubes cycling socks.

Awesome rims!! But WHY 32h again? That would only make sense if they made 26″ rims in 28h only…
If I’m going to care about making my wheelset less than flexy, I’m going to use 36h for it, the 4 spokes just bring most for they weight. 20g extra is less than the weight variance in a single batch of XC rims…

Ah, in the contest at least they ask whether we’d buy a 36h :-)
If only I could find answer 7 to complete the form and let them know I’d like the 36h option…

Cloxxki - if I’ve said it once I’ve said it 100 times, we get more requests for 28 hole. I know you don’t believe me but it’s true. I purposely added the 36 hole question to see if we should go ahead and have some made. I figure maybe the 36h crowd is just a quiet bunch and I can lure them out of hiding.

By the way, if we got rims in that varied more than 20g in a single run I would have some strong words for the supplier. 20g variance indicates a problem as far as I’m concerned.

Good luck in the contest (hint for #7 http://www.notubes.com/support_tape.php)

Thanks for taking that 20g worth of bait Mike :-)

Yes we discussed this at length. But really, being the company that you are, thinking well outside the box, going for whats best, not what customers thought up…
Why would you go for 20g weight saving in spokes with stiffness/durability loss first, not the same amount of added stiffness/durability and the same silly 20g?
Especially if you also offer nice hubs to go with the 36h theme, I’m sure you’ll sell. To me it’s mostly the rear that could use some extra spokes.
IMO, it should be YOU promoting the 36h for what it does mechanically and in terms of weight/stiffness ratio, not neirds like me begging for it.
Every company should have it’s imperfections though. Like Surly not making larger steel chainrings while they’re so much into bike commuting. Me asking for it probably only delays that product by a couple years, I hope it doesn’t work like that for rims with a sensible spokecount/inch ratio…
Keep up the good work, I’m lusting for those new rims already! 28mm rear, 24.4mm front, both with 36 lightweight spokes, hmmm :-)

29ER’S WILL BE THE NEW CRUISER CLASS OF 4CROSS!!!

A BAD ASS RIM WILL BE REQUIRED SOONER RATHER THAN LATTER!!!

I am in Cloxxki’s camp. Stans notubes has a been a staple product for me for several years now. A lightweight 29er ZTR rim in 36 hole for the rear is long overdue.

Requests for a 28 hole featherweight 29er rim hold as much credibility as the practice of using a dremel tool to lighten ones bike components. Oddly enough, individuals who fit both categories can be found on the weight fourm, taking pictures of their bikes hanging from a scale. Surely we don’t lend any weight to such ideas.

I’m glad to see there will be stronger Stans rims available. Is it too much to ask to have 4 more holes poked into the existing ZTR rims? Perhaps we are barking up the wrong tree here. Maybe if we get American Classic to offer a 36 hole hub, the rim will follow.

Congratulations on your products Stan, you are an innovator!

I think Maxrep hit the nail on the head (at least for me). I’d definitely be interested in a 36 hole rim but my hubs are 32 hole. Its kinda the cart or horse thing….

36 hole would at least allow a reasonable crows foot lacing. With 12 spokes each for taking power, and for disk braking this should be OK.

Problem with crows foot deviants on 32 hole rims is that you usually end up with 16 radial, and only 8 forward and 8 backward spokes - and that sounds a bit thin for any wheel with torques going through the hub.

Are you ever going to bring back the Olympic 29er rim.

That the rim I really want.

36 would be nice for us Clydes

I’m excited to see there is a 470gram rim out there now. Kudos! I’ve often thought sub 400 is a bit lite for my 220lbs but being I’ve been running Mavic CXP 30’s and Open Pros on my 29er 500+ seemed stupid. Thanks for coming out with something that fits my needs (and many others).
