Interbike Opening Madness
September 27th, 2006 by Guitar TedHey, Guitar Ted here with a short update for you 29″er freaks out there. I’ve been scouring the floor for 29″er bits and pieces. Some surprises: Norco has a 29″er aluminum, geared hardtail that looks really nice. Mongoose, (yes that company), has a 29″er set up as a commuter, coffee shop cruiser, off roadable machine. It comes replete with an integrated coffee mug on the downtube and can be mounted up with 2.1 rubber. According to an employee, it rides quite nicely off road. It’s available in a single speed or geared version. The retail on the single speed is sub $750.00. More details later on that. There is a Manitou Minute 29″er proto on a Niner bike, which I have been assured will see production with 29″er friendly offset.
This show is huge and I haven’t made it to everyone yet, so hold tight for more info, and don’t forget to check out the Interbike photo gallery!

Love the coverage and the photos, but gawd, the pics need work. Can’t see most of them cause either the focus is off, or the flash didn’t work. I think I need to come along as a photographer next year!
Oh, and some kinda label would be nice. I know that ads to the work, but it’ll help knowing what we’re looking at.
That Norco was a sruprise. Looks neat.
Stop by Gunnar and see if they fixed all of their flaws,oh wait acording to them their bikes are perfect. It’s everyone elses problem.$2000 wasted on American made junk.
Hey guys! Sorry if the photos are a bit “off”, I know my photog skillz need some sharpening. I have to invest in a bling camera like some of you have, for starters!
Surly does have an “extra-cycle” specific frame coming next spring. The really cool thing was the crankset they are bringing out. Forged arms and pretty polishing. I’m going back for more info on that tomorrow.
Lots of stuff to talk about. Lots of really positive feedback from dealers on the 29″ers at the Outdoor Demo.
I have a bunch more pics coming tonight, hold tight.
Thanks for post, cannot wait to see more pictures!
