Niner Bikes R.I.P. 9 due out in less than a month

August 28th, 2006 by Tim Grahl

The frames are finished and are on their way to the new Niner Bikes warehouse. They are due in about 3 or 4 weeks.

The retail for this frame is $1549.00 and you can see all the details at the Niner Bikes site.

They did end up having to make one change to the frames and that’s moving to the 7000 series for the tubing instead of the 6061 (UPDATE: After re-reading this post I should make something more clear. The decision by the Niner guys to switch to the 7000 series was made early in the prototype phase as a result of a lot of testing. This was not a last minute decision.) This will make for a stronger and lighter frame but posed some problems when it came to anodizing. The original Gold rush color couldn’t be consistenly done right so the color has now been changed to an Atomic Blue. In my opinion, I like the blue a heck of a lot better then the gold.

They’ll have a one at the dirt demo and the show flow for Interbike, so we’ll definitely snap some pictures for you while we’re there. Here’s the pics we got… (click to see them bigger)

What do you think?

I like the progression of FS 29ers, but this one just looks flexy with all the little linkages, etc.

Can’t wait for actual rider feedback.

I think that if I wanted a FS 29″er, that’s probably the one I would get. I also like the blue better than the gold.
