   Bontrager offers a lighter weight butyl inner tube for 29er. I weighed both their standard one and the lighter version and the difference was about 60 grams each as i recall. I’m scared of latex tubes, they seem to fail a lot plus they look and feel kind of creepy. I do however use liquid latex instead of inner tubes which seems to work really well and is far lighter.

   My best tip is to use a bontrager xxx-lite 26″ tube or similar tube (85g). You inflate the tube up before you stretch it into the tire so that it doesn’t pinch under the bead when you re-install the tire and then inflate. They work amazingly well and make your bike feel incredibly fast and really improves your steering speed.

   Me and another guy have raced and ridden all year with this set-up on tire pressures as low as 25psi and haven’t had a single flat.

   I use Bontrager hybrid tubes, 700 x 35-44c. they are 60g lighter than their “29er tube”. working great! and I weigh 210lbs!

   Just use the 26″ Michelin Latex, it’s the best rolling tube in the world, and super-easy to mount 29″ due to it’s slick surface. Great results for me, faster and grippier riding than with butyl tubes. Near zero flat.

   Yeah. 26er tubes work find in 29er tires. At least the butyl ones. I don’t know anything about latex. I mean for tubes. I know all about other kinds of latex. I guess those are tubes too. Anyway. What’s the deal with latex tubes?

   I will try 26″ Michelin Latex as well. Less rolling resistance, less flat tires, more pumpin, just better tubes. And wolfy, dont use these tubes for other hobbies, would hurt.

   I use the michelin latex 26″ tubes since two years and did not have one single flat tire - they are great and light !!!

   hey man live a little. keep the latex in the bedroom.
   i have had great luck with 700 x 28/32 ( road touring tubes)
   much more durable than latex, and hella lots cheaper.
   by default i am currently even running a 26 x 1.25-1.50 atb tube I needed to steal from my tandem…
   i have experience with using 700×18-23 superlight tubes…and i got a few flats…not excessive just a hassle

   Bikeman.com has salsa sl tubes for the 29er tires… I believe they are about 176g each….

   $7.95 a tube.
