Monocog 29er in 853 Reynolds?

May 19th, 2006 by Tim Grahl

So as everyone knows, Redline recently released their Monocog 29er (which we had the very first pictures of) and it’s been selling very well for them.

Now I had someone send me a rumor they heard that there’s some samples of the Monocog 29er floating around that are built with 853 Reynolds steel. Anybody else heard this?

I’m trying to track down whether this is true or not, and if so then I’ll hopefully have some pictures soon.

Tim, I spoke with the guys at Redline a few days ago. Two prototypes of this bike exist at this point. I’ll try and hassle them for some pictures.

The very first prototypes have arrived in Seattle. The main triangle is 853. They are still tweaking the tubing spec, gusset design and color. Rigid fork with tapered blades. Disc only. Sliding dropouts and full cable guides. should be well under$500 for frame and fork.

I have posted a couple of pics here with a few more to follow: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=193437
