Here’s a sneak peek picture of the Kula Primo 29er coming of Kona in 2007. While everything shown here won’t be spec’d on this frame when it comes out, here’s are some details:
- Full scandium
- 6 sizes
- RockShox Reba SL, 85mm
- XT drive train
- Hayes hydraulic HFX 9 wavy rotors
- Maxis 2.1 Ignitor tires.
I sure hope they decide to go geared only! It seems to be counter intuitive to build a scandium frame (light) and then add sliding dropouts (heavy) Don’t we have enough “do-it-all” choices already?
On the plus side, I love that color! Good job and it’s not a shade of “29″er green”!
True indeed…not just the sliding dropout but also canti mounts. There’s lots of talk of versatility which is great for some but what about the minimalist who knows what kind of setup they want and know’s they’ll stick with? If all these bikes come to market as scheduled we’ll be flooded with heavier than necessary “lightweight” frames late this year.
If I ever buy a MTB with gears, this would be the one.
Not sure about that color. I think I prefer the Yellow Supreme paint job over this.
I like the idea of the rear slider because I want to build the bike up as a single speed. For a single speed 29er, this is as light as they come!
