Gary Fisher Supercaliber 29er
March 1st, 2006 by Tim GrahlUPDATE: Lot’s of weird stuff going on at the Fisher site it seems. Price changes and photoshopping. Check out the comments for more.
The Supercaliber 29er has now been posted on the Gary Fisher website. $2099.99 price point. Not to bad.
As Guitar Ted pointed out, the biggest difference from the prototype pictures (which we got first!) is the amount of bend in the top tube. Check out his post to see more of his musings on this bike.

Kind of looks like a comfort bike to me. I really don’t like the way it looks!!
I see MSRP $2299.99. Not a huge amount but did it already climb since people have discussed it?
Yeah, that jumped $200 in the last few hours. It does look a bit like a comfort bike. The 19inch has a 140mm head tube and it’s pictured with a load of spacers under the stem. Those would need to be removed and stem flipped in order to achieve “race” worthy position. I’m still into it though.
People, this CAN’T be close to what the final 29″er will be like.
ZERO BB drop on a 3″ travel bike? That’s 14.5″ BB height!
Genesis geometry since 2001 for 29″ has always meant tiny head tubes. or is the head tube 2″ longer to compensate for the extra 2″ in the BB? With 50mm BB drop Fisher Hardtail have the tallest BB’s in the business. Another 2″?
I bet what we’re looking at is a 26″ frame with a 29″ fork and wheels either stuck or photoshopped to it. Maybe they just happened to fit becuase of the frame design, although it won’t”work”. Angles look slack. Just like when you stick a 29″ fork in a 26″ bike, it’s longer after all. It raised the BB by half an inch or so. 29″ wheels add another 1.25″. It all adds up.
Often I hope I’m wrong when I’m ranting, this time I hope I’m right. I hope the Supercaliber will be an awesome race bike with light and stiff frame that will be a bike for many to love.
The picture is a 26″ Supercaliber with larger tires pasted on, hence the funny looking geometry (high bb, tall handlebars, etc).
There is another bike in the Race Day platform also.
Simply called the Caliber. Not to be confused with the Pro or super caliber.
Looks to be a lower price point (lx/deore drivetrain) and also will be available in 29″ version.
Price is tbd on this one.
the orange caliber….which was posted as having 29″ tires has now regressed on their website to 26″ tires.
thats to bad i had higher hopes for the new lineup…..anyone know when they’re going to have things figured out?
