Orbea To Unveil First Carbon 29er

January 31st, 2006 by Tim Grahl

From an Orbea USA Press Release:

Orbea USA is blazing new trails in the mountain bike world with the introduction of the world’s first carbon monocoque 29-inch mountain bike. It is the most advanced big wheel bike ever made. It is a bike with soul.

“With the introduction of the Alma 29 we are making our mark on the US mountain bike market. We wanted to create a bike unlike anything else. You get the benefit of the bigger wheels, but it steers quickly, is ultra-stable and is an unbelievable climber,” said Tony Karklins, Orbea USA’s managing director.

Orbea is not the only carbon 29er, nor the first. Trimble Products has a Monocoq carbon 29er which has been in rideable form for over 6 months. The Trimble is a very unique design which brings a number of exceptional traits to the equation. I have been riding an Orbea 29er for over a year, and a Trimble for about 3 months. I am actually riding the first frame ever produced. Go to http://www.fayettevillebicyclecompany.com to read more and see a number of pics, bike and frame.
