Fisher Race Day 29er Delay
November 8th, 2005 by Guitar TedI spoke with a Trek employee today who informed me that the Race Day 29″er Super Caliber has been delayed until June of next year, at the earliest. This is an optimistic date and it should be noted that in all likelyhood, Trek will hold it over to be introduced as an ‘07 model, as their new model year starts August 1st. Apparently, the 26 inch wheeled version is still on track for a spring ‘06 release. The 29 inch version is presenting some challenges, and prototype models are being tested by team members. Most notable of these is Cameron Chambers, the 24hr. National Champ.
It’s dissapointing news, but it is better that the bike is done right, the first time. I’ll be staying on top of this story, and will report again if there are further developements.

according to my inside source, my trek/fisher rep, the supercal is not being delayed until june. it will be available in early april and will be an 06 model. suggested retail will be around $2200-$2000 and will be speced similar to the paragon with few upgrades.
Let’s hope you are right, but my experience with Trek has been that the “inside informants” often conflict in their reports and you have to be very careful what to believe. That said, the past performance of Trek, and the fact that they want the 26 inch wheeled version out first, all point to the reported delay of the 29″ wheeled version until June. Again, I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t think so!
